We’re running our very first Text a Toastie event on Wednesday! It’s happening in Singer halls of residence, where over 700 students live. It’s a great and simple way to engage with people and try to help them understand what Christians really think and try to answer some tough questions!
The poster (complete with classic religious toast art) explains all the details. We’re expecting a lot of texts and tweets, so we’ll have three kitchens at the ready to make toasties, deliver them and answer questions.
Could you help us out? We need as many people as possible to help prepare ingredients, make toasties, toast them, wrap them, deliver them and answer questions. We also need toastie makers, so if you have one you could lend us, just let us know.
We’re excited to be working with YWAM for this event, so look forward to hearing all about how things go later this week. Most importantly, get praying. This is the last event we’re running this academic year, so let’s make the most of it.

Exec had a fantastic time at Forum Midlands this weekend! We learned so much and we’re incredibly excited for the year ahead. Fantastic teaching, worship, prayer and time to get to know each other.

We recorded all our lunch bar talks from last week’s Uncover mission week. They’re all apologetic talks on the theme of evidence. Listen to back to them if you missed out, or listen again if you were there and want to go over what was said.

You can download these to have on your phone or iPod, or stream them using the SoundCloud app on your smartphone or tablet.

Our Uncover week happened last week; Thursday and Friday saw two more lunch bars and an acoustic night happen. Hundreds of students were engaged with the gospel. A huge thanks to everyone who helped and came along to the events! The lunch bar talks will be online soon so you can listen back to them.

Uncover Week: Day 1 Roundup

Tuesday was the first day of our Uncover mission week, and although it was a very cold day we had a great start, with some heated debate and lots of questions at our lunch bar and ‘Grill a Christian’ events.

The lunch bar was titled ‘Is there any evidence that religion still has a place in society?’, and Mark Lucas gave a thorough apologetic defence of why Christianity in particular is inherent in our British society, and why we need to make sure it remains so. The talk is recorded and will be here on the website by the end of the week.

We got people to write down their opinions on the talk title on post-it notes; there were some interesting and often surprising responses!

We also had a ‘Grill A Christian’ in the evening in Singer and Apollo halls. There were some great questions and plenty of time to chat about everything from the meaning of life to whether or not Christians are allowed to have tattoos. It was great to see so many people engaging with the gospel, and hoefully the rest of the events this week will give many more the opportunity to do just that.

We need as many people as possible to help give out flyers on Thursday and Friday; if you’re a CU member and have any free time over the next couple of days, you’ll be able to find us in and around TheHub. Just come along, grab some flyers and get handing out!

Our Uncover mission week is happening next week. Starting on Monday, we’re having a ‘pray day’ to prepare for the events that are happening during the week. Uncover is all about evidence, and our lunch bar talks ask some tough questions about the evidence for the things that Christianity claims. We’ve also got other exciting events happening, including a ‘grill a christian’ event happing in small groups on Tuesday night, and our classic Acoustic Night on Thursday.
It’s set to be an awesome week!
Keep your eyes pealed for more information and news of how things are going.

Giving via text for Uncover Missions Week

If you weren’t at our Equip meeting last night, we were preparing for our exciting Uncover missions week. Part of this was giving money towards the cost of running the events during the week.

The easiest way to give is via text message, so if you do want to give money towards the week, text the following:

COVY12 and then either £5 or £10

to 70070

You can text multiple times if you want to give more. Simple! Thanks so much for your support, and we look forward to seeing you during the Uncover missions week.
